Frequently asked
Everything you might want to ask
Booking, deposits, delivery, editing, travel and everything in between. If your question is not here, just ask us directly.
Booking & Payment
For weddings, six to twelve months is typical, and peak-season Saturdays in summer often go a year ahead. Portrait and family sessions usually need two to four weeks. Newborn sessions should be reserved during pregnancy against your due date. Passport photos are walk-in with no booking at all.
A signed agreement and a 30% retainer together confirm the booking. Until both are received the date stays open to other enquiries — we cannot hold a date informally, however much we would like to.
The retainer is non-refundable. It reserves your date exclusively and covers the planning work that begins immediately, as well as the other bookings we turn away for that date.
Seven days before your event for wedding and event coverage, or on the session date for studio and portrait work. Corporate headshot bookings invoice 50% up front with the balance on delivery.
Interac e-Transfer, credit card, and cash. Payment plans across two or three instalments are available on wedding packages — just ask when booking.
Prices are listed before HST. Ontario HST is applied to the final invoice.
Changes & Cancellations
Yes. Weddings and events can be moved once at no charge with 60 days notice, subject to our availability on the new date. Portrait and family sessions move freely with 48 hours notice. Newborn sessions reschedule at any notice, because babies do not read calendars.
The retainer is retained and any balance already paid beyond it is refunded. Cancellations within 30 days of a wedding date are invoiced at 50% of the total, since the date can rarely be rebooked at that point.
We carry a network of vetted photographers whose work is consistent with ours, and we would arrange and brief a replacement at our cost. In eventualities where no coverage is possible at all, you receive a full refund including the retainer.
Outdoor portrait sessions reschedule once at no cost. Weddings proceed regardless — we carry lighting and lens protection for weather and know the indoor options at most regional venues.
Delivery & Editing
Portrait and family sessions return in one to three weeks. Events return in three to five weeks. Weddings return in four to eight weeks depending on package. Every timeline is listed on the individual package page and measured from your event date.
Wedding packages include a sneak-peek gallery of 30–50 images within 72 hours. Rush delivery of the full gallery is available as an add-on on most packages.
Through a private online gallery, password-protected and shareable with family. You download full-resolution files directly, and the gallery stays live for twelve months.
Every delivered image is edited for exposure, colour, contrast and cropping. Selected images on most packages also receive full retouching — skin, stray hairs, distracting background elements. We do not reshape faces or bodies.
We do not release RAW files. They are unfinished work and do not represent the studio. Raw video footage is available as an add-on on videography packages.
For event coverage we deliver everything worth keeping — you do not need to select. For studio sessions with a fixed image count, you choose your favourites from a proofing gallery and we edit those.
Yes. Every package includes a personal printing release. We also offer fine-art prints and albums if you would rather we handled it — our lab stock holds colour far better than consumer printing.
On the Day
It depends on the package. Full-day wedding coverage includes two as standard. We generally recommend a second photographer for any event above 80 guests, or whenever two things are happening in different rooms at once.
We stay, and additional time is billed in 30-minute increments at the rate published on your package page. We will always tell you before the clock starts rather than surprising you on the invoice.
For coverage of six hours or more, a meal for each team member is appreciated. We eat quickly and while the guests are eating, so nothing is missed.
Of course — it is your day. We only ask that during formal group portraits everyone looks at our camera, so nobody ends up with an album full of family staring in six directions.
Travel & Locations
Kitchener–Waterloo–Cambridge, Ontario. Our studio operates by appointment, and we work across the region and the Greater Toronto Area constantly.
Yes, across all of North America. Travel within 100 km of Kitchener–Waterloo is included at no charge. Beyond that we quote transport, and for destinations requiring flights we quote travel and accommodation transparently before you book.
We do. Destination coverage is quoted individually and typically includes an additional day either side of the event for travel.
Gladly. We know the parks, streets and venues across Waterloo Region that photograph well at each time of day and time of year, and we will suggest options once we know the look you want.
Some conservation areas, gardens and campuses charge for commercial photography. Where a permit is required we tell you in advance and bill it at cost, without markup.
Prints, Albums & Passport
Yes — hand-bound fine-art albums with a choice of cover materials. Albums are included on some wedding packages and available as an add-on everywhere else. We design the layout and you approve it before anything is printed.
We do, on archival stock through a professional lab, including framed wall portraits. Print sets are listed as add-ons on each package page.
No. Passport, visa and ID photos are walk-in and take around ten minutes, with prints and a compliant digital file both included.
Bring us the rejection notice and we re-shoot and reprint free of charge. We check against the published specification before you leave, so it happens rarely.
Canada, the United States, India including OCI and visa formats, the United Kingdom, the Schengen area and many others. Tell us the document and destination and we will match it exactly.
